True first edition of this classic by Wilder. Cloth covers with slight edgewear. Two tiny stains bottom edge. Unclipped dustjacket with trace wear at upper corners - the nicest copy we've seen. Period bookplate ffe. Inscribed by Wilder on the tiitle page: "For Walter Parker/ with all the best/ regards of / Thornton Wilder/ London Jan 1929". Parker (1881-1931) was the famous WWI hero decorated with the Victoria Cross for bravery at Gallipoli.
